So you know that WWW stands for World Wide Web, but how to you find or get to your favorite site?

Typing in the URL.

URL is an acronym for Uniform Resource Locator. A URL is the address for a resource or site on the WWW. For example, http://www.mycybernet.net is the URL for Cybernet. People also refer to the URL as the location or address of the site. If you know the URL of the site you wish to visit, all you have to do is type in the URL in the Location box (if using Netscape) or the Address box (if using Internet Explorer).

Using a Search Engine

A search engine is a type of online program that contains a database of Internet sites. The search engine has an interface (text field box) that allows you to type in what you are tying to locate. For example; topics, companies or people. Once a keyword(s) is entered, the search engine displays the results of your entry in hypertext. This means you can click on any item in the list to get to that web site. If the site you clicked on doesn't have what you are looking for, you can click on the BACK button on your browser to return to the list and try another site. All search engines have directions on how to effectively search for a particular topic or web site.
