A
slower connect speed does not
necessarily indicate a problem
with your modem, nor a problem
with Mycybernet. Depending on
a number of factors, your speed
may increase and/or decrease
at various times over the course
of a given Internet connection
session, although you won't
usually be aware of these changes.
So the initial connection information
that you see just after dialling
does not necessarily reflect
the speed of your entire surfing
session.
To
test your connection speed,
go to
http://www.dslreports.com
and click on the "Click here
to begin" link at the top of
the page.
Please note that to ensure as
accurate results as possible
the following conditions should
be true before conducting the
speed test.
- No
browser window should be
open, other than the one
you are using for the speed
test. As well, no other
'internet aware' application
should be running. For example,
you should not be retrieving
email or down loading by
FTP, running ICQ or similar
chat programs in the background.
- If
you are testing from a network
environment that makes use
of a shared Internet connection,
the above holds true for
any machines that may be
on your local area network.
Any
Internet traffic being generated
on your local network other
than the speed test will have
a
negative impact on the results.
