To
prevent damaging your system,
we urge you to consult your
owner's guide before attempting
to install any type of hardware
into your computer. The instructions
provided on these pages are
merely intended as a guideline
for common installation processes
in most computers and should
not be construed as de facto
for your system. Mycybernet
Communications assumes no responsibility
for damage as a result of improper
techniques in hardware installation,
nor do we assume responsibility
of supporting these installations.
Before beginning the install
of your network card, ensure
that the power is disconnected
from your computer! Failure
to do so could result in serious
injury! Also ensure that you
are properly grounded before
beginning by touching the metal
chassis with your bare hand.
-
Remove
the cover from your PC.
-
Remove
the network card from its
package.
-
Find
an empty slot in your computer
and remove the cover plate
from that slot.
-
Insert
the card into the slot and
snap it firmly into place.
-
Replace
the screw (if any) that
held the cover plate in
place.
-
Replace
the cover to your PC, reconnect
the power and turn on the
machine.
-
Upon boot-up of your PC,
the Windows "Add new hardware
wizard" will appear. The
wizard should detect your
new hardware and install
the correct software drivers.
If the wizard is not able
to find the correct software
drivers for your card, then
follow these steps:
-
Place
the disk that came with
your network card into your
computer's floppy drive.
-
When
prompted for location of
the drivers, de-select the
first three choices and
only select "Specify a location".
-
Click
on "browse" and select your
computer's floppy drive
by clicking on it.
-
Click
on the "+" next to your
floppy drive to show the
folders on the disk and
then double-click on the
folder representing your
Windows operating system.
For example: if you have
Windows 98, double-click
on the Win98 folder.
-
Click
on "Next". Windows will
search the floppy drive
and find the software driver
for the card. Windows will
start copying the updated
driver files and the other
networking components.
-
When
Windows finishes installing
the updated driver, click
on "Finish" reboot when
prompted.
If
you should encounter any problems
while installing your network
card, please see the
installation instructions
provided to you with your network
card.
