The
following article is a list of
possible solutions. If after you
have followed a step the error
is fixed, do not continue troubleshooting.
We recommend that you start at
the top and work down.
If you receive this error, always
reboot your computer first and
then try your connection again.
- Verify
that you entered the DNS numbers
correctly within your Mycybernet
Dialer. Click here
for instructions to verify
dialer settings.
- Verify
your Network Components. Remove
any components that are not
necessary, such as, any extra
TCP/IP's, AOL or VPN Adapters.
Click here

- Check
for proxy settings and clear
the cache files. Click here
for instructions.
- Set
up the DNS settings in TCP/IP
in the Network Control Panel.

Verifying
the dialler settings
Verifying
the settings for the Mycybernet
Dialler Windows 95/98
- Double-click
on "My Computer".
- Double-click
on "Dial-up Networking".
- Right-click
on the Mycybernet icon and
choose "Properties".
- Verify
that the correct dial-up phone
number has been entered.
•

- Remove
the check mark from "Use Area
Code and Dialing Properties".
- Click
on the "Server Types" tab
at the top of the Window.
- The
"Type of Dial-up Server" should
be "PPP: Internet, Windows
NT Server, Windows 95".
- Under
"Advanced Options" the only
item that should have a check
mark is "Enable Software Compression",
remove all of the other check
marks.
- Under
"Allowed Network Protocols"
the only item that should
have a check mark is "TCP/IP",
remove all other check marks.
- Click
on "TCP/IP Settings" button.
If the DNS numbers are not
entered, place a check mark
in "Specify Name Server Addresses".
In the field for "Primary
DNS" type "209.222.63.130", in
the field for "Secondary DNS"
type "206.186.81.2".
Verifying
the Settings for Mycybernet Dialler
- Windows ME
- Click
on "Start", then "Settings"
and choose "Dial-up Networking".
- Right-click
on the Mycybernet icon and
choose "Properties".
- Verify
that the correct dial-up phone
number has been entered.

- To
view or edit your phone book
entry, click "More", click
"Edit entry and modem properties".
- Verify
that the correct dial-up phone
number has been entered.

the "Basic" tab, remove the
check mark from "Use telephony
dialing properties".
- Under
the "Server" tab, the only
items that should be selected
are "Enable Software Compression"
and "TCP/IP".
- Click
on "TCP/IP Settings" button.
Click in the circle beside
"Specify Name Server Addresses".
In the field for "Primary
DNS" type "209.222.63.130", in
the field for "Secondary DNS"
type "206.186.81.2".
- Click
on "OK" and you are ready
to test your connection.
Verifying
the Network Control Panel
- Double-click
on "My Computer".
- Double-click
on "Control Panel".
- Double-click
on the "Network" icon.
- Under
the "Configuration" tab the
only items that should be
installed are, "Client for
Microsoft Network", "Dial-up
Adapter" and "TCP/IP".
- Remove
any other components, such
as, extra "Dial-up Adapters",
"TCP/IP", "NetBeui", "IPX/SPX",
"AOL Adapters" or "VPN Adapters".
To Remove them, select the
item and click "Remove".
- Click
"OK" At this time you will
be prompted to reboot the
machine, click "Yes" and let
the computer reboot.
Checking
for proxy settings and clearing
the cache.
- Internet

- From
the Menu Options in Internet
Explorer click on Tools and
choose Internet Options.
- Under
the General Tab in the middle
of the window under Temporary
Internet Files click on Delete
Files. Place a check mark
in Delete Offline Content
as well and click ok.
- It
will than clear the cache
on the browser. Click on Ok.
Try to view the web page again.
- If
you are still unable to view
web pages continue:
Internet
Explorer: Checking for proxies
- From
the Menu Options in Internet
Explorer click on Tools and
choose Internet Options.
- Click
on the Connection Tab
- Verify
that Mycybernet is set as
the Default Connection
- Make
sure that Always Dial My Default
Connection is selected and
that Mycybernet is the default
- On
the bottom of this window
click on the Lan Settings
Button
- Make
sure that the check mark is
in Automatic Detect Settings.
If not place the check mark
in this option.
- Click
on Ok and try to browse the
Internet again.
Netscape:
Clearing the cache
- From
the Netscape Browser Menu,
click on Edit and than Preferences
- Under
Category scroll to the bottom
until you find Advanced.
- Click
on the + next to Advanced.
It will than be a -
- You
will get an indented list,
click on cache
- To
the right of the window click
on Clear Memory Cache
- Than
click on Clear Disk Cache
- Click
on Ok at the bottom of the
window and try to browse again.
Netscape:
Checking for proxies
- From
the Netscape Browser Menu,
click on Edit and than Preferences
- Under
Category scroll to the bottom
until you find Advanced.
- Click
on the + next to Advanced.
It will than be a -
- You
will get an indented list,
click on Proxies
- Make
sure Direct Connection to
the Internet is selected
- Click
on Ok at the bottom of the
window and try to browse again.
Setting
up the DNS servers in TCP/IP
Setting up
the DNS settings in TCP/IP for
Windows 95
- Click
on the "Start" button and
choose "Settings", then choose
"Control Panel".
- Find
the icon called "Network"
and double-click on it.
- The
first screen you will see
has a listing of all of the
installed network components.
- Scroll
through the list until you
see the component called "TCP/IP
-> Dial-up Adapter". (Note:
You may only have one "TCP/IP".
Use it instead.)
- Double-click
on the "TCP/IP -> Dial-up
Adapter".
- Click
on the "DNS Configuration"
tab.
- Enter
your userid as the "Host Name".
- Enter
"mycybernet.net" as the "Domain".
- Enter
"209.222.63.130" in the "DNS
Server Search Order" box and
click "Add". Do the same for
"206.186.81.2".
- Click
"Ok", then click "Ok" again,
and say "Yes" to restart your
computer.

Re-installing
the Network Components
Note: You will
need your Windows Operating CD
to complete these tasks!!
- Double-click
on "My Computer".
- Double-click
on "Control Panel".
- Double-click
on the "Network" icon.
- Under
the "Configuration" tab, remove
all of the installed components.
- Click
"OK", it will prompt you and
tell you that the network
in not complete, click "OK"
and say "Yes" to reboot the
machine.
- Once
"Rebooted", open the "Network"
icon.
- Click
"Add", then choose "Adapter",
and click "Add". Under "Manufacturers"
choose "Microsoft". Under
"Network Adapter" select "Dial-up
Adapter".
- Click
"OK".
- Click
"Add", then choose "Protocol",
and click "Add". Under "Manufacturers"
choose "Microsoft". Under
"Network Protocols" select
"TCP/IP".
- Click
"OK".
- Click
"Add", then choose "Client",
and click "Add". Under "Manufacturers"
choose "Microsoft". Under
"Network Clients" select "Client
for Microsoft Networks".
- Click
"OK".
- Click
on the "Identification" tab.
Enter your userid as the "Computer
Name", and "Mycybernet" as
the "Workgroup".
- Click
"OK". You will be prompted
for your Windows CD, place
the CD in the CD ROM drive
and click "Continue".
- You
will be prompted to restart.
Click yes and let the system
reboot.
